These photographs were taken on two cruises, one with Norwegian from Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S.A. and the other with P and O from Auckland. The Hawaiian cruise visited several of the Hawaiian Islands plus Fanning Island in the Republic of Kiribati. The cruise from Auckland visited 3 islands in the Fiji Group and 3 islands in the Vanuatu Group.
The ships were quite different from each other. The Norwegian Wind had "freestyle cruising" which is advertised as giving you choice when and where you dine. In practice it often meant dining where you could find a table and sometimes we had to wait for a table, even after visiting all the restaurants on the ship. On the other hand, it did make it easy for the dozen or so New Zealanders on the cruise to get together for dinner a couple of times, which was great. The P and O Pacific Sky was smaller and felt more crowded but had traditional assigned-seating dining in the evening. On the whole, we prefer the assigned-seating arrangement because you get to know your table-mates better. Unfortunately, the quality of the food on the Pacific Sky was not up to the standards we have got used to with Norwegian, Princess or Royal Caribbean. Fortunately, the beauty of the South Pacific Islands that we visited more than made up for the mediocre food. We hope you enjoy the pictures.
The default list of images contains 30 photographs but a two smaller subsets of 6 phoptographs each is also available. Iris chose the first subset and Harry chose the second but they don't reflect who took the photographs. The current list is printed in bold below. Click on the other list if you want to change to it.
